Terms of service

Terms & Conditions

These are the rules of the service, written in plain language. When you tick a box that says you accept the terms — to unlock a contact, to buy an offer or to request a verification — this is the document you are accepting.

1. What CariTalent is

CariTalent is a recruitment marketplace for Guyana and the Caribbean. We connect companies searching for staff with people looking for work: companies search a directory of profiles, and candidates publish their profile for free.

Publishing a profile and appearing in the directory costs a candidate nothing. Registering as a company costs nothing either: a company pays only for what it uses.

Verification work (Levels 2 and 3) is carried out by CariTalent's own internal staff. There is no outside agency involved: the person who phones a candidate or checks a document works for us, and answers to us.

We are not the employer. The employment relationship, if there is one, is between the company and the person it hires.

2. What we verify and what we do not

Read this clause before buying any verification

CariTalent verifies the AUTHENTICITY of the credentials, documents and identity as the candidate presents them, and confirms that the candidate is available and interested.

CariTalent does NOT warrant, evaluate, certify or take responsibility for the candidate's practical skills, technical competence, job performance or suitability for a role.

In plain words: we confirm that the diploma is real, that the identity document belongs to that person, that the previous employer confirms the work, and that the candidate wants the job and can attend. We do not confirm that the person is good at the job.

Technical assessment — the trade test, the practical exam, the technical interview — and the hiring decision itself belong to the employer. A verification report is one input to that decision, never a substitute for it.

3. Level 1 — contact unlock

Unlocking a candidate gives the company ACCESS TO THAT CANDIDATE'S CONTACT DATA — phone, email and address as the candidate declared them. That is all it gives.

A Level 1 unlock does not guarantee that the candidate is available, that they will answer, that they will reply, or how they will perform. We do not phone them and we do not confirm anything at this level: the company contacts them directly.

It is a single, immediate charge against the company's platform balance, and the contact appears at once.

A contact that has already been revealed is never refundable. That is precisely why it carries no guarantee: once the data has been seen, it cannot be handed back.

A Level 1 unlock does not expire.

4. The three service levels

A company chooses how far it wants us to go. Each level is a different amount of human work, and each one is priced and guaranteed differently.

Level 1 — Contact unlock

Instant access to the candidate's contact data, charged once against the company's balance. No calls, no confirmation, no guarantee — see clause 3.

Level 2 — Interview coordination and confirmed availability

  • Our staff phones the candidate, checks that they are genuinely available and interested, and arranges the meeting.
  • Paid 100% in advance, per scheduled appointment.
  • One request may contain several appointments. Each appointment has its own date, time and place, fixed by the company.
  • Guarantee: if the candidate does not show up, the company gets one free replacement appointment.
  • If the COMPANY does not show up, that counts as the client's own breach and the payment for that appointment is lost.
  • Whether someone showed up or not is determined by CariTalent staff, who contact both parties. It is not settled by either party declaring it on its own.
  • Reporting a no-show is a report, not a verdict: nothing moves money until our support team resolves it. Silence never moves money either — nothing resolves itself just because a deadline passed.

Level 3 — Deep verification and retention (headhunting & vetting)

  • Extended search inside and outside the platform's own database, pre-interview by our staff, verification of credentials, and validation of employment references.
  • Paid in three milestones: an advance to start the work, a second payment when the candidate is accepted or hired, and a third after 30 consecutive days worked.
  • The advance is not refundable — the investigation work has already been done — but it funds replacement searches, with no limit on how many, until a candidate is actually presented.
  • If the candidate leaves, or is dismissed for performance, within the first month: the third milestone is not charged, and one warranty replacement is offered without charging the advance again.
  • If the company dismisses without cause, or cancels the position, the third milestone IS owed: the employment ended for reasons internal to the company, not because the verification failed.
  • Which of those two cases applies is determined by CariTalent staff after contacting both parties, with a written reason on record. The company reporting a departure is a report, not a verdict.
  • The 30 days worked are confirmed with both parties as well. If the two accounts contradict each other and cannot be resolved, the third milestone is not charged: a doubt does not get billed.

A delivered Level 2 or Level 3 report INCLUDES the candidate's contact data. A verification therefore contains everything a Level 1 unlock would have given, and there is no need to buy Level 1 first.

For Level 2 and Level 3, the company describes the profile it needs and how many candidates it wants; CariTalent assigns the candidates. The company does not pick who gets investigated.

A Level 3 search can reach beyond the platform's own directory. Someone found outside it is invited by a link, registers and accepts these terms like anyone else, and only then is attached to the request — we do not hold data on anyone who did not agree to be here.

Access to Level 2 and Level 3 results expires 90 days after delivery. The contact data does not expire: once revealed, it stays available.

5. Payments and balance

There is no card payment gateway on this platform. Nothing is ever charged automatically to a card.

Every charge comes out of the balance the company already holds on the platform. That balance is created when the company reports a payment it made and our support team checks it by hand and confirms the money arrived. Uploading a receipt is not the same as being credited: the manual check is the real step.

A company without enough balance can still create a request. We issue an invoice for it, and THE WORK DOES NOT BEGIN until the payment is confirmed.

Coupon uses belong to one service level and to one company: they do not cross between levels and they cannot be transferred to another company. Where a coupon is available it is used first, and only the remainder is taken from the balance.

Prices are resolved on our servers at the moment of charging, from the current price list. The total shown on screen before confirming is informative: if the price changed while the form was open, nothing is charged and the company is told.

6. Refunds

Only what was NOT delivered is refunded.

A candidate that was already delivered is never refunded. The report revealed that person's contact data, and a datum that has been seen cannot be given back — the same reason a Level 1 unlock has no refund.

A partial delivery is a legitimate outcome: the market may not hold ten candidates who qualify. In that case what was not delivered is refunded, and what was delivered is not.

A refund can be requested within 7 days of delivery. The clock starts at delivery, not when the request was created — a service that takes days cannot have its refund window expire before it is delivered.

Cancelling a request before any candidate has been assigned returns everything.

If a contact was already revealed and then the request is cancelled, that contact is charged at the Level 1 list price and deducted from what is returned. The company keeps the contact, so it pays for the contact.

Refunds are returned as platform balance, never as cash. If the charge was paid with coupon uses, the uses are returned as uses.

7. Delivery times

A light verification (Level 2, availability) is delivered within 3 business days. A deep verification (Level 3, background) is delivered within 10 business days.

The committed date is shown as a date on the request itself, so nobody has to count business days by hand.

If we miss that date, the company can request a refund without having to argue the case.

When the request went through the invoice route — that is, there was not enough balance — the clock starts when the payment is confirmed, not when the request was created.

8. Candidate data and privacy

When a candidate's contact data is revealed, the candidate is notified. The notice says that a company accessed their contact data; it does NOT say which company. This applies to every way a contact can be revealed, including the contact that comes inside a verification report.

Our internal working notes are never delivered to the company and never shown to the candidate. They are how our staff organises the work, not part of the product.

A Level 2 interview is the one exception to the anonymity above. The anonymity holds up to the moment the appointment is confirmed, and gives way exactly there: to attend an interview the candidate necessarily has to be told the company's name, the place and the time. That is inherent to attending, not a disclosure we could avoid.

A candidate's contact data is only shown to a company that paid for it. It is not shown in the public directory and it is not shown to other candidates.

A company that obtains contact data through the platform may use it to evaluate and contact that person for the role it is hiring for. It may not resell it, publish it, or pass it on to a third party.

9. Work permit and immigration

CariTalent does not give legal advice.

Where the platform accompanies a work permit process, it is a guided flow that helps organise documentation. There is no electronic integration with any system of the Government of Guyana: nothing filed here is filed with the government by us.

Approving or rejecting a work permit is the exclusive authority of the competent government body. Nothing on this platform, and nothing anyone on our staff says, changes that or predicts it.

10. Conduct, reports and sanctions

Any user can report a profile, a job posting or a message that seems abusive, false or a scam. Reports go to our support team, and reporting does not expose who reported.

An account can be suspended for a period, or banned, when it publishes false information, harasses other users, asks candidates for money, or tries to get around the payment rules of these terms. A suspension has an end date; a ban does not.

A sanctioned account is signed out on its next action, and is told which sanction applies and until when.

No candidate is ever asked to pay to appear in the directory or to be presented to a company. If someone asks a candidate for money on our behalf, that is a report worth making.

11. Changes and contact

These terms can change. The date at the top of this page always says when the current version was published, and a change is announced on the platform before it applies to new purchases.

A change never applies backwards: a request already paid for keeps the price, the delivery time and the guarantee that were in force when it was created.

Questions about a charge, a delivery or these terms go to our support team, which is the only channel that can review a payment or a refund.
